Summary
The Assistant Visitor Services & Events Supervisor will serve within the support team at the Deanna Rose Children's Farmstead. This position will assist the supervisor with events and management of the front-of-house operations for the Farmstead, including visitor services, ticketing, memberships, rentals, and birthday parties. Assists with supervised personnel responsible for visitor services and event operations, including the hiring, retention and training of staff. The Assistant Supervisor assists with the development, planning, coordination, promotion, and administering of City-sponsored Farmstead special events, as well as those in partnership with the Friends of the Farmstead (FOF).
Duties and Responsibilities
Assists with the supervision of the Farmstead entrance to include visitor services, ticketing, memberships, and front of house operations. Assists with the recruiting and developing part-time employees to ensure effective operations in these areas.
Assists with the coordination of Farmstead personnel to plan, promote and administer City-sponsored Farmstead special events. Coordinates with Friends of the Farmstead and Arts and Recreation Foundation of Overland Park (ARFOP) in regards to sponsorship, fundraising, and member programs.
Supervises the Guest Service Coordinator and Cashier positions, including hiring, scheduling, and training.
Assists with the management of group reservations, birthday parties, rentals, and field trips.
The employee must work the days and hours necessary to perform all assigned responsibilities and tasks. Must be available to communicate with subordinates, supervisors, customers, vendors and any other persons or organization with which interaction is required to accomplish work and employer goals.
The employee must be punctual and timely in meeting all requirements of performance, including, but not limited to, attendance standards and work deadlines; beginning and ending assignments on time scheduled work.
Performs other duties as assigned.
General Qualifications
EDUCATION & SPECIAL LICENSE(S)/CERTIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Parks and Recreation or an equivalent combination of education and experience in a public-facing, guest service environment.
Possession of an appropriate valid driver's license.
Must maintain an insurable driving record.
EXPERIENCE:
One to two years of supervisory or event management experience.
