JOB SUMMARY STATEMENT: Completes the Court Clerk duties that require extensive experience and a high level of accountability, in addition to performing the duties of the Court Clerk position. These duties include but are not limited to oversight and support of court case management software, fine collection oversight, warrant processing, custody oversight, assisting with daily and monthly financial reporting, clerk training, video arraignment of prisoners, and serving as a liaison to the Johnson County Sheriff's Department (jail) and bonding companies.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Oversees the standard procedure for issuance, service, and quashing of bench warrants as ordered by the judge. Responsible for ensuring that all warrants are based on true and accurate information.

Oversees the video arraignment program for all arrested persons in custody awaiting mandatory hearing. Coordinates video courtroom schedule with the Sheriff's department and Court Security Officers.

Assists with all components of daily and monthly financial reporting and oversees fine collections as assigned.

Assists with oversight and support of case management software to include security, role set up, configuration, documents and forms creation and maintenance, and regular review/processing of Senior level work queues.

Serves as liaison to bonding companies. Qualifies companies and maintains the approved list. Collects forfeited bonds from bond companies.

Serves as liaison to Johnson County organizations (Jail, Community Corrections) and assists in overseeing all programs related to custody and confinement tracking.

Assists with planning and implementing on-the-job-training for court clerk staff. Assesses the skill level of new staff and assists with planning the training path. cross-trains veteran clerks in new duties.

Completes special projects as assigned.

Ensures and/or assists in verifying that all required forms and reports to other agencies, including the Department of Motor Vehicles, the Kansas Bureau of Investigation and the processing of Driver's License Reinstatements have been properly submitted.

Providing leadership with regard to office culture and processes, serving as a resource and support to Court Clerks.

Completes all duties of Court Clerk, as needed and provides oversight.

Any other duties as required by the supervisor. Performs any other duties as required during emergency and/or incident operations.

The employee must work the days and hours necessary to perform all assigned responsibilities and tasks. Must be available (especially during regular business hours or shifts) to communicate with subordinates, supervisors, customers, vendors and any other persons or organization with whom interaction is required to accomplish work and employer goals.

The employee must be punctual and timely in meeting all requirements of performance, including, but not limited to, attendance standards and work deadlines; beginning and ending assignments on time; and scheduled work breaks, where applicable.

GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION & SPECIAL LICENSE(S)/CERTIFICATIONS:

Basic education which includes courses in typing, office practices and word processing, or additional equivalent experience.

Access to the Kansas Criminal Justice Information System (KCJIS) is required, so the following KCJIS requirements apply:

Must be at least 18 years of age.

Must not have any felony or serious misdemeanor conviction(s).

EXPERIENCE:

A minimum of three years of experience as a Court Clerk with Overland Park Municipal Court is preferred.
