The Emergency Management Intern will gain valuable experience in the field of emergency management by assisting with the planning, coordination, and execution of emergency preparedness and response activities. This internship will provide hands-on experience and exposure to the various facets of emergency management, including mitigation, preparedness, response, and recovery.

Assist with the development and maintenance of emergency plans, procedures, and protocols.

Participate in emergency exercises and drills to test and evaluate emergency plans.

Conduct research and analysis on emergency management topics, such as hazard identification, risk assessment, and vulnerability analysis.

Assist with the development of public education and outreach materials on emergency preparedness.

Assist with the coordination of emergency response activities during actual emergencies or disasters.

Assist with the collection and analysis of data related to emergency management activities.

Attend meetings and training sessions related to emergency management.

Other duties as assigned.

GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION & SPECIAL LICENSE(S)/CERTIFICATIONS:

Currently enrolled in a bachelor's or master's degree program in emergency management, public administration, or a related field.

EXPERIENCE:

No experience required

SKILLS:

Excellent research, writing, and communication skills.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Strong organizational and time management skills.

MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

Strong interest in emergency management and a desire to learn and contribute to the field.

Willingness to learn various software applications used in an Emergency Operations Center
