JOB SUMMARY STATEMENT: Assists the Farmers' Market Manager and Farmers' Market Coordinator with the on-site management and daily operation of the Overland Park Farmers' Market (OPFM) both on and off Market days. Helps form annual goals and objectives for the team. Is viewed as part of the OPFM leadership team. Expected to maintain a comprehensive knowledge of all vendors, staff, Downtown Overland Park (DOP) businesses and city policy. Helps to indirectly oversee Farmers' Market attendants. Senior Market Attendants specialize in supervising roles related to the Double Up Food Buck program; enforcing city policies and procedures for staff, vendors and the public; aids in indirect market attendant training; and helps with customer service and vendor relations.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assists with administrative, clerical and office duties.

Assists with on-site market management and operational support each market day and makes sure market attendants' complete duties.

Oversees set up and tear down all traffic barricades, cones and market signage.

Ensures that all facilities and utilities are in working order.

Performs light custodial duties, sweeping, mopping, picking-up trash, etc.

Answers basic market questions from customers and vendors.

Handles emergencies, complaints and customer requests.

Assists with the design and appearance of the Market Information Booth.

Ensures the market operates in compliance with federal, state and local health rules and regulations.

Responsible for the maintenance and retention of valuable city property utilized on Market days such as laptops, iPads, point of sale devices and cameras.

Expected to maintain a comprehensive knowledge of all vendors, staff, DOP businesses and city policy.

Supports management in the facilitation of staff and vendor orientations, on-site training and season long onboarding of new members of OPFM.

Upholds all City and OPFM standards from a point of leadership on the market team and is staff's first point of contact for questions and support.

Integral support system during off-season for delegated administrative or logistical tasks such as data collection, training development, systems formatting and more.

Assists with enforcing the rules and guidelines for the market

Duties are occasionally complex requiring moderate decision-making ability.

May serve as a team lead but not a true supervisor - coordinates work of other employees to include: assign tasks, train on task performance, schedule work, review the work of others, and instruct other employees in methods or procedures needed to carry out their jobs.

The employee must work the days and hours necessary to perform all assigned responsibilities and tasks. Must be available (especially during regular business hours or shifts) to communicate with subordinates, supervisors, customers, vendors and any other persons or organization with whom interaction is required to accomplish work and employer goals.

The employee must be punctual and timely in meeting all requirements of performance, including, but not limited to, attendance standards and work deadlines; beginning and ending assignments on time; and scheduled work breaks, where applicable.

GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION & SPECIAL LICENSE(S)/CERTIFICATIONS:

High school diploma or equivalent plus business or correspondence schools or college (equivalent to 1-2 years) preferred.

Valid driver's license.

EXPERIENCE:

One year working in a fast paced, customer service environment.
