JOB SUMMARY STATEMENT: Responsible for the management and daily operation of the Farmers' Market. Assists with supervision of vendors and market attendants. Aids in staff and vendor training plus enforcing the rules and regulations. Manages the Double Up Food Bucks and token program and all related reporting. Coordinates work schedules for market attendants and assists with vendor layouts and contracts. Oversees special events, inventory and condition of supplies, equipment and uniforms. Conducts farm and food inspections. Aids in administrative and clerical work. Helps promote and advance the OP Farmers' Market philosophy, culture and camaraderie.

Provides on-site market management and operational support each Wednesday and Saturday of operation to include but not limited to:

Sets up and takes down traffic barricades, cones and market signage.

Oversees the set-up, operation and shut-down of the Farmers' Market.

Ensures market operates in compliance with federal, state and local health rules and regulations.

Handles emergencies, complaints and customer requests.

Ensures that all facilities, equipment and utilities are in working order.

Ensures vendor and shopper compliance with market rules and regulations.

Builds and maintains professional relationships with staff, vendors, shoppers and all stakeholders.

Must be available most Tuesdays and Fridays to prepare for the next day's market.

Assists with enforcing the rules and regulations for the market.

Helps supervise vendors and market attendants. Assists with staff training. Creates, implements and maintains staff reports and documentation.

Responsible for staff scheduling to make sure all shifts are covered each market day and staff stays within allocated hours each year. Responsible for creating appropriate shift times.

Manages the Double Up Food Bucks and token program and all related equipment and reporting.

Aids in vendor selection and helps coordinate the vendor layout for each market day. Responsible for keeping the vendor list online current and up to date.

Oversees special events, entertainment, activities, inventory and condition of supplies, equipment and uniforms.

Assists with the design, development, and implementation of marketing and advertising including social media platforms.

Conducts on-site farm and food visits.

Aids in administrative and clerical work to make sure the market operates efficiently and successfully. Prepares weekly, monthly and seasonal reports for staffing, revenue, expenditures and surveys.

Responds to patron and vendor requests; assists patrons and vendors as needed.

Helps promote and advance the market philosophy, team culture and camaraderie. The employee must have a strong sense of teamwork and ideas on how to continue to build a team.

The employee must work the days and hours necessary to perform all assigned responsibilities and tasks. Must be available (especially during regular business hours or shifts) to communicate with subordinates, supervisors, customers, vendors and any other persons or organization with whom interaction is required to accomplish work and employer goals.

The employee must be punctual and timely in meeting all requirements of performance, including, but not limited to, attendance standards and work deadlines; beginning and ending assignments on time; and scheduled work breaks, where applicable.

GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION & SPECIAL LICENSE(S)/CERTIFICATIONS:

Basic high school education required. Bachelor's degree or higher preferred.

Experience in agriculture is preferred.

Experience as a leader or supervisor is preferred.

Experience with operations of a facility or event preferred.

Must possess a valid driver's license and maintain an insurable driving record.

First Aid and CPR certification through the City will be required within three (3) months from date of hire.

EXPERIENCE:

Experience managing; organizing and promoting events; and/or working with not-for-profit, community, volunteer and agriculture-based groups. Previous experience in facility operations or managing a Farmers' Market is preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Frequent standing and walking for prolonged periods.

Ability to work in inclement weather.

Ability to operate City vehicles.

Ability to lift 30 pounds and transport 20 feet.
