JOB SUMMARY STATEMENT:

Supports the coordination and operations of the Arboretum and Botanical Gardens. Sells memberships, admissions and activities; provides customer service to all visitors; assists in training of point of sale attendants, and greeter. Assists Event Supervisor and Visitor Experience Supervisor as needed.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provides general supervision for the operation of the Long House Visitor Center and the east entrance kiosk.

Supervises and operates Point-of-Sale ticketing and selling of memberships. Provides support on the back of house entry of gift shop merchandise.

Monitors the Long House entrance, greets visitors and provides customer service. Assumes Greeter and admission duties in their absence.

May greet rental, tour groups, or field trips to the Arboretum.

Provides general information and customer service to the public by answering questions, providing direction, and enforcing rules.

Sets up and takes down work stations in the Guest Services area including running the end of day report.

Assists with money management and deposit preparation for bank deposits.

Assists Volunteer Coordinator as needed with volunteer training and support.

Maintains the general cleanliness of the Long House including the restrooms.

Performs other duties as assigned.

The employee must work the days and hours necessary to perform all assigned responsibilities and tasks.

Must be available (especially during regular business hours or shifts) to communicate with subordinates, supervisors, customers, vendors and any other persons or organization with which interaction is required to accomplish work and employer goals.

The employee must be punctual and timely in meeting all requirements of performance, including, but not limited to, attendance standards and work deadlines; beginning and ending assignments on time; and scheduled work breaks, where applicable.

The above duties and responsibilities include those tasks, physical and mental requirements, visual requirements, unique physical surroundings and mental/cognitive requirements listed in the Position Description Questionnaire and Task Analysis Worksheet.

GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION & SPECIAL LICENSE(S)/CERTIFICATIONS:

Basic high school education or equivalent.

EXPERIENCE:

This is an entry level position; no previous experience is required.

Retail or Customer Service experience is preferred.

SKILLS:

Good oral and written communication skills.

Excellent customer service skills.

Basic math and accounting skills.

MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to read and comprehend City policies and procedures.

Ability to train and guide others.

Good memory skills.

Ability to handle multiple tasks.

Ability to receive training and maintain knowledge of the educational areas, various activities and services provided by the Arboretum.

Ability to learn and operate point-of-sale and membership system software application.
