JOB SUMMARY STATEMENT: Performs a variety of miscellaneous clerical duties such as typing correspondence, reports and other law department related documents. Performs other duties as assigned.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Acts as receptionist. Handles incoming and outgoing calls and mail.

Types and proof-reads a variety of routine to complex legal documents including general correspondence, reports, memos, letters, forms and statistical data. Transcribes from drafts, verbal instructions or recordings from one or more members of staff.

Types and proofs legal memoranda and correspondence. Performs data entry.

Prepares, reviews and proof-reads reports and related materials for sensitive employment matters and coordinates necessary meetings relating to those matters.

Performs miscellaneous and general correspondence as needed and other tasks as assigned.

GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION & SPECIAL LICENSE(S)/CERTIFICATIONS:

Basic high school education and additional business or correspondence courses of 1-2 years, which includes courses in typing and office practices or equivalent education experience preferred.

Must be 18 years of age.

EXPERIENCE:

One plus years of experience in a law office and six months of general secretarial/office experience, or an equivalent level of education.

Ability to make and receive phone calls.

Ability to operate office equipment and machinery to include personal computer, calculator, copy machine, fax machine.

Ability to greet and assist the general public.

Ability to lift 10 pounds and transport 10 feet.

Ability to bend to file.
