JOB SUMMARY STATEMENT:
Responsible for the programming, operations and supervision of all educational areas of the Deanna Rose Children's Farmstead (DRCF). Promotes and conducts educational and recreational activities and programs. Supervises educational staff and volunteers. Provides support to the Friends of the Farmstead (FOF) by assisting in fundraising, planning, and marketing. Manages all social media outlets for DRCF. Works with other Farmstead Supervisors in a cooperative way to assist in the daily operation of the Farmstead.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develops, plans, organizes, recruits, implements and evaluates a wide variety of educational programs, including, but not limited to, passive and interpretive educational components, facilities, tours, and camps.
Develops and reviews educational programming annually. Markets educational programming to groups and the general public. Utilizes and maintains technology required to implement programs.
Conservation, inventory and preservation of all historic and educational components of DRCF artifacts. Provides recommendations for acquiring educational components within the operations.
Provides direct supervision to Education Programs Attendant staff and volunteers in all educational areas. Implements all recruiting, interviewing, hiring, training, scheduling, supervision and evaluation of Educational Program Attendants.
Provides the DRCF operations with educational training opportunities. This includes, but not limited to, working and developing training with other City departments on specific needs of the operation.
Develops, recommends and maintains the budget for the education department. This includes developing and implementing grants from the Friends of the Farmstead.
Engages in public relations and community outreach through various forms of media and formal/informal speaking engagements. Maintains the DRCF social media platforms.
Assists in the development, recommendation and implementation of City goals, objectives, fiscal management, facility management, policies, procedures and work standards.
Performs other duties as assigned.
The employee must work the days and hours necessary to perform all assigned responsibilities and tasks. Must be available (during the operating season at peak attendance times that include weekend work and split days off and potentially more than 40 hours a week) to communicate with staff, supervisors, customers, vendors and any other persons or organizations with which interaction is required to accomplish work and employer goals.
The employee must be punctual and timely in meeting all requirements of performance, including, but not limited to, attendance standards and work deadlines; beginning and ending assignments on time; and scheduled work breaks, where applicable.
GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION & SPECIAL LICENSE(S)/CERTIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree in Early Education or a related field.
Possession of appropriate, valid commercial driver's license.
Must maintain an insurable driving record.
EXPERIENCE:
Two years' experience in educational programming and public presentation preferred.
