            A bulb for every socket
While the costs for almost everything continue to rise, there are some easy steps to cut what you pay for lighting your home. Updating your light bulbs to LEDs is one of the easiest and quickest things to cut your electric bill. Make the most of your conversion to LEDs by remembering a few quick tips.
How bright do you want your light to be?
Watts are no longer a good measure of how bright a light bulb will be. Lumens are more illuminating when deciding what you need as they measure brightness. A standard 60-watt incandescent bulb, for example, produces about 800 lumens of light. By comparison, an LED bulb produces that same 800 lumens but uses only about 10 watts of electricity. Most LED bulb packaging will provide a comparison to incandescent bulb brightness.
What color do you want the light to be?
Most incandescent bulbs produce a yellow (warm white) light that many people find pleasing. LED bulbs allow you to choose light from warm white (2700K) to cool white (4000K) to daylight (5000K). Choosing the right color light can make a living room seem cozy or a kitchen brighter and cleaner.
Do you want to dim the light?
If you are going to use the bulb with a dimmer, make sure to check the packaging to see if it is dimmable. LED lights dim differently than incandescent bulbs, and it may be necessary to update the dimmer switch
as well.
