  Services Bureau-Dispatch
The Dispatch Section encompasses the primary Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) for the Overland Park Police Department. They serve as the vital link between citizens and the emergency services they need. In 2018, they handled 79,921 9-1-1 calls, and 172,656 administrative calls from the community. Calls received for Fire or EMS are transferred to the Johnson County Emergency Communication Center.
The Dispatch Center is adjacent to the Emergency Operations Center and Public Works Traffic Services Division and is equipped with eleven state of the art consoles. Dispatchers have direct radio contact with all agencies in the metro area.
Our Dispatchers maximize the efficiency of police resources and improve service for both external and internal customers. The Dispatch Center utilizes a number of growing technologies and is open 24/7 365 days a year to meet the needs of our community.
