  Services Bureau- Records
The Police Records Unit includes six Records Technicians and three Report Technicians. A Civilian supervisor and
a Services Bureau Captain supervise the Records Unit.
The Police Records Unit is responsible for the maintenance and custody of all Department police reports, videos, and other case information documents. The Records Unit is the point of contact to citizens for Department records dissemination. During 2018 the records unit processed approximately 1300 public records requests and conducted over 22,000 criminal history checks.
The Records Units also processes and submits case files to the District Attorney for review and prosecution. In 2018 over 2,200 case where processed for the Johnson County District Attorney and approximately 918 for the City Prosecutor.
The Report Technicians are responsible for the handling of walk-in reporting by citizens. This service has been expanded to also include the Scafe Station. In 2018 the Report Technicians handled over 1,500 citizen reports. Citizens also submit reports online and they are processed to become an official police report.
