The Soccer Complex has been named the top soccer city in the United States by Livability.com because it's considered the only complex of its kind in the nation. This complex hosts national, regional and local tournaments. There’s an on-site concession stand, plenty of close parking, and many hotels, shops and restaurants are nearby.
Baseball and Softball Fields, Tennis and Volleyball Courts
Overland Park has several baseball and softball fields, and basketball, tennis and volleyball courts to meet your competitive desire. Most fields and courts are first come, first-served, and free. Facilities are open dawn to dusk. Choose between seven baseball/softball fields, nine basketball courts, one skate park, four soccer fields, 12 tennis courts, three pickleball courts, two indoor volleyball courts and five outdoor volleyball courts.
Parks, Lakes and Shelters
Overland Park has 83 parks where visitors can run, walk, bike/hike, play and fish at one of four ponds. Park hours are 5 a.m. to 10 p.m., daily. Amenities vary by facility. Two parks have splash pads. Many have handicap-accessible parking, playground equipment, tables, restrooms, drinking fountains, bike and hike trails, and athletic fields and courts. Thirteen of the parks have shelters you can reserve; all other shelters are free and first come, first served during park hours.
Bike/Hike Trails
The Indian Creek Bike and Hike Trail is nearly 17 miles long, with 10 miles of it located in Overland Park. The trail extends into Leawood and Olathe. For Overland Park, it starts at Foxhill South Park, 109th and El Monte, and follows Indian Creek south and west to Forest Creek Park, 125th and Pflumm. A connecting link continues south along Quivira Road toward the Tomahawk Creek Trail via 127th and Nieman. Generally, the trail is level and flat; it is paved, approximately 10 feet wide with mile markers every half mile. There are some steep grades for short sections. The trail is wheelchair accessible. All types of non-motorized bicycles may be used on the trail; dogs are welcome as long as they are on a leash. Parking is available. Overland Park’s bike and hike trails are part of a system of trails that connect with trails in Kansas City, Mo., and throughout Johnson County. Trail maps are online at opkansas.org/trails.
