Canine Officers
Patrol also has two canine officers assigned to the division. In 2018 a third canine officer will join the division. Each year, the officers contribute toward our objectives and help officers with apprehensions, searches, and recoveries of narcotics. Below are some highlights of their efforts.
K-9 Highlights
K9 team responded to a residential burglary in progress. K9 team entered residence and made announcements regarding the pending K9 deployment. Two suspects announced themselves and surrendered to officers without incident.
K9 team responded to a commercial burglary in progress. Suspect saw officers and attempted to hide under a truck. K9 was deployed and detained suspect by laying down and barking. Officers moved in and took the suspect into custody without incident.
K9 team responded to assist with a search warrant for narcotics, following an overdose. K9 indicated in multiple places inside the residence and located containers hidden inside a bedroom. He also indicated to a large amount of cash - over $16,000.
