       Fall 2018
Recycling Extravaganza: recycle, shred, donate and go
Do you have items around your home taking up space, in the way or you’re tired of cleaning around?
You can rent storage space, hang onto them for a few more years or get it out of your life and save a few dollars.
On Saturday, Oct. 27, Overland Park is sponsoring the Recycling Extravaganza, which allows you to drop off and recycle many items not collected by routine recycling, such as:
Electronics - computers, TVs, printers, stereos, cables, keyboards, etc.
Confidential documents - onsite shredding to protect your security (nominal fee applies)
Durable medical equipment - used items can help others
Musical instruments - new tunes (no pianos, organs, or drums)
Mattresses and box springs - recycled or reused by area foster families
Building materials - Usable leftovers or remodel removals Shoes - let someone else walk a mile in your lightly used
footwear
Pet supplies - make tails wag with leashes, food, blankets, etc.
Medications - clean out the cabinet and make a new start Furniture - usable furnishings in good condition
Clothing - recycle your old clothes because those new outfits look great on you
Toys - let them bring smiles to another child
Bicycles - rusted chains and flat tires welcomed
The event will be held from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 27,
on the campus of Black & Veatch World Headquarters,
11401 Lamar. Visit www.opkansas.org for more
information.
 Bulky item collection
The 2018 bulky item collection will pick up from households west of Antioch this year during September and October. A flier with more information and dates will be mailed to households in the collection area.
Key things to remember for this year include: Up to five bulky items per household.
Boxed and bagged materials will not collected.
Fencing, decking, and lumber will not be collected at curbside. A drop-off location will be available for those in the collection area to take a pickup load of fencing, decking, lumber or construction and demolition waste.
A Recycling Extravaganza will be held Saturday, Oct. 27, where many items can be recycled.
Residences east of Antioch received the service in 2017 and are scheduled for collection in 2019.
