Use properly. One gram of 2,4-D (a common household herbicide) can contaminate 2.6 million gallons of drinking water. Use and dispose of these chemicals properly. Safely dispose of hazardous materials from your home by calling Johnson County Environmental at 913-715-6900.
Set back. For every degree you set your thermostat back, you could save about 3 percent on your energy cost.
Water deep. Provide your lawn one inch of water once every five days during the summer.Watering more frequently encourages shallow root growth.
Inflate ‘em. Spending five minutes to make certain your tires are properly inflated can save you the equivalent of 10 cents per gallon.
