Patrol
Activity
Patrol handles the majority of the calls for service and enforcement activities. In 2016, the patrol division issued 80% of all traffic citations, made 74% of all arrests, responded to 94% of calls for service, and issued 80% of all DUI arrests. In 2016, there were 59,108 calls for service and 144,773 police events, which include events such as traffic stops, building checks, area checks, citizen contacts, pedestrian checks, abandoned vehicles, and so forth. **
Patrol handled nearly 5000 more calls for service in 2016 over 2015.
Accurate and complete reporting writing is crucial to our work as it allows for case investigations and convictions in court. In 2016 the department completed 27,393 reports, 80% of which were either incident or offense reports. The other 20% involved accident reports. Patrol officers wrote 18,669 reports in 2016, contributing to 68% of all reports, excluding supplements.
