EARTH NOTES
The Recycling Extravaganza held April 22 on the Black & Veatch headquarters campus shredded more than 69,500 pounds of paper and collected 86,400 pounds of electronics, 161 bicycles, 590 pairs of glasses, 94 mattresses, two pallets of walkers and crutches, two medical beds, and five wheelchairs for recycling and reuse.
Overland Park has 10 different watersheds and over 70 miles of natural streams and rivers.
The average person generates 70 pounds of textile waste (clothing, towels, sheets, etc.) each year.
Refill a bottle and save a lot. Bottled water costs many times more than tap water and offers no demonstrated health benefits.
Change your outside lights to LED bulbs. You may not change the bulb again, and savings can be significant.
