Services Bureau -
Communications Unit
As the primary 9-1-1 Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) for the City of Overland Park, we serve as the vital link between our citizens and the emergency services they need. Calls for Fire or EMS are transferred to the Johnson County Emergency Communications Center. The dispatch center is adjacent to the Emergency Operation Center and Public Works Traffic Services Division and is equipped with nine state of the art consoles. Dispatchers have direct radio contact with all agencies in the metro Kansas City area.
Our Dispatchers maximize the efficiency of police resources and improve service for both external and internal customers. The Dispatch Center utilizes a number of growing technologies and is open 24/7/365 to meet the needs of our growing community.
Dispatch Staffing consists of:
1 Police Captain
5 Civilian Supervisors
6 Civilian Senior Dispatchers 14 Civilian Dispatchers
4 Part-time Dispatchers
(13 other Department members are trained and available to assist when needed.)
