Each signifies moving ahead, which is what ForwardOP plans to do.
ForwardOP - Imagine Tomorrow Inspire Action - is a 14-month, community-directed visioning process to seek input from you and others to outline
a path of continued success in the
same tradition of planning Overland Park’s future that began over 100 years ago.
The city has hired Planning NEXT to
help lead this discussion. The project is expected to be completed in late summer 2018.
ForwardOP is a process designed to be inclusive and transparent. It is guided by a Steering Committee appointed by the City Council, and is being supported by an Outreach Team, the “community connectors” who will be personally inviting people to actively participate in the process.
Consider this an invitation to attend the Imagine Tomorrow workshop at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 30, at the Overland Park Convention Center. It is free and open to the public. We do ask that you RSVP via the project website, ForwardOP.org, so the planning team can prepare for the workshop and accommodate all who want to attend.
If you are a millennial, a baby boomer or part of one of the demographic groups in between, we want to know your thoughts on Overland Park.

who are interested and want to engage in helping shape Overland Park’s future should attend.
Keynote speaker Peter Kageyama will challenge you to think differently about Overland Park. Kageyama says people who love their city are those who are “emotionally engaged with their city.”
People want to love their city and usually want to do something above and beyond by doing something extraordinary for it, he said.
Planning NEXT will then facilitate interactive activities to gather input and feedback through
small group discussions and individual activities. You will be able to work alongside your fellow neighbors to think about what Overland Park should be in the next 20 years.
